Home Economics BGE
In S1 our pupils learn about the importance of food safety and hygiene through a mixture of theory and practical cookery lessons. They then move on to complete the S1 Pizza Challenge that allows pupils to work in groups to design and make a healthy pizza building on their existing skills. We are very fortunate to have a sewing room that allows our S1 pupils to design and make a cushion that can be given as a gift.
In S2 our pupils study in detail the dietary needs on individuals through the "You Are What You Eat" unit and learn more about the Scottish Dietary Goals for Scotland. They also have opportunities for personalisation and choice through creating a healthy breakfast dish that is made and evaluated in class.
